IDA B. WELLS / Fought Lynchings of Black Americans

Ida B. Wells won international attention for fighting against the frequent and brutal lynchings of innocent African Americans by
white mobs in the southern part of America.  African Americans were establishing successful communities and businesses across
the south and this angered large numbers of southern whites right after slavery ended in 1865.  These white mobs murdered hundreds
of African Americans.
